Panicking a Stats Junkie

Technorati DownChecking on a few link stats this morning I ran smack in to the message over there on the right.

Ooch!

I know systems require maintenance and things have to be done from time to time. But I wonder what Technorati is doing this morning that required them to pull their entire site down.

Do you suppose they are burning the midnight oil to create better tracking systems to capture links better?

Better is better (as long as it really is better, that is).

We’ll just have to see.

If you are a stats junkie, don’t panic. I’m sure they really will be back up soon.

Chris – you are not alone in your panic! I had the same sinking feeling at one point this morning. Good news though – they are back online.

Char, it’s funny how addicted to stats we can get, eh? Glad it was no big deal.

Statcounter.com will do in a pinch. It’s free and I actually like it better than Technorati, although I use both. =O)

Hey Margaret, That’s a good tip. I use StatCounter too, although I use it more of a quick look at how many folks stop by. You’re right, though. You can cipher out some incoming links from it. I find it is a little cumbersome for that, though.

Glad Technorati’s back up and running.
