Well apparently Tino’s 2000 Blogger project that I posted about yesterday ran afoul of the folks at Technorati.
Tino Buntic has ended the project and has an explanation notice at the main URL for all the links. Check out his current post that explains why he ended the project.
Gotta admire a guy who has the guts to stop doing something so popular when he sees it as wrong.
Good on ya Tino for doing the right thing!
(If I’d only been a little quicker on the uptake myself….)

I posted about my experiences with 2000 Bloggers and Technorati in a post this morning called, Really, What’s the Point of the 2000 Bloggers Experiment
Dawud, I think you have a great analysis of the whole deal there and I agree with you. (Not that I’m above joining in on some mutually beneficial fun, mind you.)
I don’t know, there are many Technorati Members who run memes, such as Thursday Thirteen. Unlike this guy, they ride the rank wave week after week after week.
2000 Bloggers will rise and then fall, allowing others to have their little bit of time in the limelight.
I wish him well whatever he decides to do.
You make a good point, Margaret. With Technorati only looking at a 180 day window it won’t matter much long term.
I really don’t have very strong feelings on memes one way or another because they are fairly artificial links that typically don’t do much to build traffic.
But at the same time the big search engines like to see sites that are linked to from bunches of other sites. They give those heavily linked sites more authority in their search results.
So…?
