Wow - this is a great blog post, even though its possibly no longer read. It's true about the hard work, endless hours, feelings of zero traction, etc etc on the way to success. Im not near as successful as i want to be, but its been a long road to get where I am, able to pay all my bills and vacation once a years and save for my kids education - all from home.

Feeding the spirit is absolutely essential.

Chris,
It's nice to see you worked it out. I remember when you went forward for the altar call at the 2nd Chapter of Acts concert. I've been praying for you lately and I don't even know why. You were on my mind.

Faith isn't something we conjure and try real hard to have. Faith is a gift of God, something He puts in our hearts. Does a grapevine try and try to make grapes? No, it just bears fruit. It's hard to accept sometimes because we're soooo human. I'm analytical. I trie to conquer faith with science. It just doesn't work. There's still that empty hole in our hearts that everyone searches to fill. It's in our makeup. God programmed us to search for something to fulfill our lives. Some go down the wrong path and try to fill that hole in other ways, while some realize that they only way that hole can be filled is by accepting that Jesus is the way to heaven. So what if it's one sided. When you finally truly believe, that hole in your heart is filled and you know that it's the right thing. Science can't conquer that. The catch is that God gave us free will. He wants us to come to Him willingly, not like little robots that follow Him. That's where the struggle comes from.

For anyone who reads this who is struggling: it's not worth the struggle. Accepting Christ is easy. It's free, no shipping and handling. First, you admit that you can't do right without God. Everyone was born a sinner. And then you just accept that only Christ can take away those sins and fulfill you. Simple.

I pray that someone reads this who needs it.

Oh step, checking your brain out at the door would be like handing God His biggest gift to us back. And that is not the case by any means.
You simply have to accept the fact that there are things that the brain alone is not made to understand and comprehend. Call it supernatural, some might call it even alien, others, like me, call it FAITH.

Sincerely,
Oliver G

Step, I respectfully disagree.

There was a time when I was very much a skeptic. As far as I was concerned religion, Jesus, and all that stuff was for weak minded people who needed a crutch to help them get through life.

I did however have a strong desire to know what was really true about God. Did he really exist? Or was he just something superstitious folks invented to explain things they did not understand?

The interesting thing is that Jesus is a real person who actually existed in history. He made some outlandish claims about himself. And the evidence to support or refute his claims is there in history for all who care to bother examining it.

I looked at it very closely. And very skeptically.

At the end of the day I became a follower of his. But only after I actually exercised my mind.

So let me ask, Which requires less brain power - carefully considering the historical evidence regarding an actual person who existed in history, or dismissing the entire thing off hand as a myth without looking into it at all?
