Surprising Light Bulb Moments

When was the last time you had a light bulb moment?

You know the kind. You’re just trucking along thinking things are just ducky. You’ve got things figured out and you know exactly where you are headed.

Then. Wham!

A moment suddenly comes when a whole bunch of things you never knew before, or probably never even considered, are set right in front of you in a way that is crystal clear and obvious.

You know without a doubt that your life will never really be the same again. You are thinking thoughts that you’ve never had before. And those new thoughts will change the direction of your life forever.

Dinner and a Light Bulb

Light BulbThat happened for Gorgeous and I last night.

We had a friend over for dinner. I thought we were going to be talking about a web site for him.

I think we all entered into that conversation thinking we were going to be talking about a web site for him.

But instead, after four hours of talking with our friend, Gorgeous and I both shared one of those light bulb moments.

It will be interesting to see where this all goes. I’m sure we just stepped onto a new path, one that we never even considered before.

How About You?

Do you ever have light bulb moments?

How did you know it?

How did it change you?

A paradigm shift!!! And yes! I love the name lightbulb moments. I usually call it my “oooooh moment” – when I stop and about 10 things all fall into place and I go “oooooh”.

It usually occurs when there is a statement, then silence (you can usually see the cogs turning).

It is usually immediately followed by rapid talking as I try and let loose the flood of ideas that then result from that single moment.

If it happens with me and DH, there is that eye-glance-meeting-each-others-eyes moments and then we BOTH will talk over the top of each other to try and let the floodgates open and the ideas flow.

Did it change me – I’m not sure… never thought about it. I’m the sort that will absorb information, even though I don’t 100% understand it, then let it snap into place later.

Good idea for a post, though.

It is funny how different we can be, Ozlady. My reaction is generally to get real quite and process when I have one of those moments instead of rapid talking.

Todd, I think it is great how when we focus on the what, the how can present itself without us working it all out in advance.

For me, light bulb moments usually happen in the shower, rarely when I’m sitting at the office. Weird how refreshing and inspiring a shower can be for me!

Carl, I’m with you. I also do some of my best thinking in the shower for some reason. I wonder if it is partly because my body relaxes in the shower enough for my mind to do some serious work?
