Thanks for your valuable points. I was really wondering on my credit card bills before, but now I will take right steps to keep an eye on my credit card accounts. Thanks again!!

Thank you for the tips. I have argued successfully with both my bank and credit card companies in the past, but it was very time consuming. I have learned to always ask for a supervisor or a manager (not that i always get them on the first call)It is a pain, but staying calm really helps a lot.

I agree - paying bills online is the way to go. It's also reassuring to pay everything in one fell swoop and not worry whether checks will get lost in the mail.

As hard as it is to believe, some credit card companies have lost class-action lawsuits for intentionally "losing" payments or throwing snail mail payments back in their queues - delaying processing and slapping customers with millions of dollars in unwarranted late fees.

I agree 110% with your first point (keep your calm.) I used to get mad when CSR's refused to help or threw the "it's policy" excuse at me.

Now I know staying calm and being persistent gets what I want more often than not. Too many people act indignant as if there's a reward for it.

I have started paying my bills online because it is faster and overall it takes away the whole paper cuts issue!! And talking with less than helpful customer service agents....

I've been paying my bills online more and more. I figure there are less chances of human (or scanner) error that way. It took some time to get past the check writing mindset though.

You could even continue your "check for each charge" method, because most if not all credit cards let you make multiple payments over the course of the month. You can go online and pay for your card purchases the same day you make them.

Glad this all worked out!
