A Little Time Off
When most bloggers go on vacation they stop blogging for a bit. Me, I’m different. I’ve got a couple days off and I finally get to write!
I guess vacation means different things to different folks. Some people want to get away, do nothing. For me a vacation is time to do some things I want to do.
Sleeping late. Dinner with friends. Building out web sites. Blogging. Exploring new sites. Adding feeds to my reader.
These are all the kinds of things that recharge my batteries. We all need to be sure we make the effort to get recharged now and then or we will burn ourselves out.
Question is, what recharges your batteries?

You know what really charges my batteries? Getting interested in something exciting and new! A new challenge of some kind.
On the other hand… sometimes just sitting down with a good read will do wonders for me!
As long it’s different from whatever the usual grind is, it’s usually enough for me.
Apparently I’m Bob’s slightly-better-looking doppleganger. A new challenge is does wonder for the mind and body!
The alternative for me is mountain hiking. Here in Phoenix you can climb a summit with an impressive vista and return to the parking lot in anywhere between one and three hours depending on the park. Reaching the top is always invigorating, no matter how many times I’ve made the hike.

Robert & Mike, You guys hit it. Sometimes the best thing we can do to clear our heads is just get a change in scenery. I’m digging it today.
I’d like to take exception to Mike’s snide “slightly-better-looking” comment.
But I can’t.
You guys are so vain.
Now don’t go all Carly Simon on us, Chris!
Bob,
You may not, but never fear, my wife will take care of that for you! LOL
Mike
Chris – you probably think this comment is about you but…
Seriously, the thing I do on vacation is give my brain a break and try to read something new, which actually causes it to work overtime and helps me create new stuff.
Welcome back friend! You’ve been missed!
Thanks, Phil. Yeah. Giving ourselves a break now and then with sometime to put our minds in a different state somehow every now and then will help us be more effective.
Your post reminds me to bring my laptop on my next vacation to Las Vegas. When I’m not partying and resting I can post a few articles about the experience. Have a good one.
I Like #3 freedom or release from duty, business, or activity…It is freedom! I usually leave my cell phone, laptop or any type of electronic device at home..so I dont get tempted to work..It feels great!!
I concider my vacation. Just staying at home (not having to think) rent a movie and order some pizza..and sit until I cant no more..I cant remember the last time I did that..i really need a vacation.
My vacation is just preparing a small lunch basket and go to the nearest beach and relax under the sun..
I like to go to the zoo once in a while..for some reason watching animals is just so relaxing..
For me vacation almost the same as you doing what I love.
Having fun with my kids and husband
Greetings…
Taking up vacations is the most effective way of refreshing yourself into much stress while in the work or school. I would suggest to have vacation on nature.
Same for me. Sometimes, I want to take the time off from work, and I really want to go somewhere where I can unwind, and have a pleasurable time with my family. So we usually go on a vacation.
Funny enough I was quite sad, near the end of last year I took a week of to work on my websites, I only got about a quarter of the work done that I intended to do, the rest was in the pub. This year I suggested the same to my partner and she nearly bit my head off without opening her mouth or saying a word, I just new by the look on her face, the next day she told me that we where going to Holland on an amsterdam mini cruise with DFDS ferries, I was shocked and thought to myself if the missus was feeling alright, Amsterdam I asked myself, crazy. I went along with it, no laptops, no computers at all, we had the time of our life’s, I guess what I am trying to say is that there is nothing better than getting away from your daily life’s and area to recharge the batteries.
