Chris, I also always turn off the the visual editor, just because I’m used to working in html. But I recently worked on a client’s blog and left the visual editor in place, and I was pretty impressed. It still doesn’t handle embeds (ie YouTube videos) well, however. Even when you switch to code view it can strip out some of the necessary code. Still, it has some cool bells and whistles!

Dr. Judy, There’s a button that looks like a link of chain in the basic tool bar. Highlight the text you want people to click on, then hit that chain-link button, type or paste in the URL where you want people to go when they hit the link, hit “insert” and you’re off and linking.

Yeah, Mike. I’m still a bit of a hold out myself. But the visual editor is looking better and better.

Thanks for this tip on the new toolbar. I’m just creating my first WordPress blog and for almost four years in Blogger it’s all been straight HTML. I won’t feel bad about using the Editor now!
