And I think, Chris, that we often let ourselves get sucked into the hold of that self-centered hole. It probably happens to everyone once in a while; the really good ones jump out of the hole before they get too accustomed to the surroundings.

I agree, Carolyn. Pretty much anytime we get overly inward focused it sucks the joy out of us. There’s research data out there that will confirm that folks who are more giving, helpful, and other’s focused tend to be happier in their lives than those who are more self centered.

Well, yes, it can Chris (at least I think it does for me). It seems that when I take myself too seriously, I tend to give leeway nowhere and that kind of attitude prevents me from enjoying other people as well as myself.
