I think that it was a novelty to start with and then people get traped in the moment and don’t think that maybe they are hearting their traffic and pushing away return traffic.i think that imposing your music on a visitor is not only rude but more importantly, like you say, makes bad business sense.

For me audio on autoplay and flash intros (especially ones that load for two minutes) are both killers. Clear usability issues but what can you expect in the era where anyone can “design” a website.

thank you, finally someone that agrees with me! personally i think that imposing your music on a visitor is not only rude but more importantly, like you say, makes bad business sense.

and this even goes for music blogs; can you really certain on times and locations of your visitors? if not then how anoying is it to scamble for the volume button at 1am in a shared house?

and lastly! probably the most anoying thing about playing music is some of those flash players which basically embed in your browser – close the window, but have other windows open, hey presto the sound follows – untill you close every window.

personally when that happens i never go back to that site.

agreed! and at the same time, having so many ads and search tools on your main page that it just makes everything impossible to load. it’ll deter traffic in a heartbeat!

I think these people are out on a mission to check the tolerance level of people. I really dont see any use with having music and having music that is not worth hearing.

The last thing you want is to give a concrete reason for people to not visit your website.
