WordPress Issues Security Uptate in Version 2.6.2

Version 2.6.2 release announcement on the official WordPress blog.

I woke up this morning and see that WordPress released a new version yesterday. The new version 2.6.2 is a security release.

It looks like the security exploit they patched is a fairly low probability complex hack involving randomized password generation and a bunch of technical blah, blah, blah.

Even so, you probably should think about upgrading your WordPress installation to this version fairly quickly. Upgrading is especially important if your blog or web site has a higher profile, PageRank, or traffic levels.

Yes agreed, WordPress security should be taken seriously especially if your already take your blogging seriously. If you find it to be too much of a chore to continually update your WordPress, there is a solution to make this much easier for you.

It’s called the ‘WordPress Automatic Upgrade’ Plugin and it’s available at:

So many new updates. It makes me think that there’s never anything safe around the Internet.

I hate all the constant updates but did once have a website hacked so do appreciate the necessity of them. Definitely important to update everytime a new wordpress release is available.

After each updating I plan to be engaged seriously in safety and then I forget about it.

Upgrading my WordPress blogs each time an update is released certainly does my head in but I guess it’s always better to be safe than sorry.

Make your password bulletproof too! I had a friend who got hacked because her password was 5 letters long, and a dictionary word.

Most of the security issues were known long before. WordPress is just annoying late with fixing their security holes. Hence, I just can’t understand people who don’t update their wordpress-blog.

I found your blog while I was searching for a problem I encountered with WordPress 2.6.2! I’ve been trying to upgrade to 2.6.3., didn’t work. So I tried to get back to 2.6.2 and still it doesn’t work. I hate it when wordpress releases updates every two minutes :(
