		<description>Great post; I really love the elephant training story!  I think it nicely illustrates what I think is the key point to promulgating new ideas: replacing my old, limiting beliefs with new ones (of my own design and of my own volition).

[Soap box, please] Because each of us has a unique Lattice of Models of how the world works, we will each have to make that transition in our own way.  With a radical new idea, we have to not only instill the new concept, but overcome the social proof hurdle (i.e., everybody else thinks differently, so why should I take up this new belief) as well.  This can be the part that takes the most time and thick skin.  As William James said in &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.des.emory.edu/mfp/opinion.html&quot; rel=&quot;nofollow&quot;&gt;How an Individual Settles Into a New Opinion&lt;/a&gt;, &quot;Old opinions resist very variously&quot;, but a new  idea with merit will eventually catch on.
