Good stuff!!! I switched to Google Reader right after their new updated version and Blog lines is laid out in two vertical columns with separate frames so you can scroll the two columns independently I think so and has become my workhorse feed reader. It is the one that I keep coming back to. I like it because it does just one thing, and it does it well. Google Reader is free but you do need to have a Gmail account to use it. There is no blog service attached to Google Reader, nor a way to do clippings.

Web-based email is nice, but it can’t beat a fully blown desktop client. A Blog line shows that they must not pale in comparison to their desktop counterparts. A Blog line is easy to use, almost always does the right thing and spares you the hassle of downloading and wrestling with another piece of software. Plus you can access Blog lines from everywhere with just a browser.did you got it what am trying to say it?

hi nice blog it was i also use the “River of News” List View to scan headlines. With hundreds of feeds, it cut my processing time down a ton. I’d meant to actually put a number on this when I first switched, but never got around to it. I just know my allotted time for checking feeds is much less than it used to be. Thank you…That’s good stuff. I’m in a position where I want to get more efficient with my feeds and your tips will help a lot. Bloglines is laid out in two vertical columns with separate frames so you can scroll the two columns independently. The left frame has all the feeds by title and you can arrange them into different folders and you can control how they are ordered with several automatic options (A-Z, Z-A, Unread, Oldest First, Newest First) or you can manually set up the order in any given folder.

Another thing is all the shortcut keys. If I need to quickly tag something to blog about â€“ hit “t,” tag, and save. If I want to close the side panel to get a larger view â€“ “u,” to close, then again to open it back up. To quickly jump to tag â€“ “gt,” pick tag, and go.

They really save time. Here’s the list of main ones from Google:

Thanks, Tony. That’s good stuff. I’m in a position where I want to get more efficient with my feeds and your tips will help a lot.

GR does make it easy to switch between headlines only (List View) and the full text of the post (Expanded View). I haven’t been using that feature enough.

One of the other things I like about GR is that when I have multiple tags on a feed and read an item in one place it gets marked as read in all the others too. Netvibes in particular doesn’t do that and I found myself reading the same thing more than once sometimes and wasting time.

Sure. For example, I use the tag feature to categorize blogs in my niche, related, etc. I also tag things to blog about, what I want to comment on, refer to later, etc.

On quick scans, I star items to go back to later. Then I process the starred items when I have more time.

When I first started using GR, I tried to fit it into the way I was already using RSS. It worked, but once I began to change my thinking, and my process, I found it allowed me to work with all my RSS and blog stuff much more efficiently.
