Thanks for visiting!
They’re calling it Un-Conference ‘07.
BlogSavannah has announced they will be hosting a conference for all things bloggish 25-27 January ‘07 right here in Savannah. Here is an excerpt from their conference page:
At this 1.5 day event we will provide a very friendly, laid back atmosphere in which to learn about, talk about, and disect the blogosphere both in the Low Country and the world around us. With each session being led by a noted blogger and the sessions being relevant to the blogger cause, we are hoping to start an annual tradition of technology and friendship! The cost is FREE and all you have to do is register and show up!
How did they manage to get the cost down to free, you ask. Well they got together a couple of sponsors. The event will be sponsored by a couple of local entities who have a stake in the blogging world, The Creative Coast Initiative and SavannahNOW.
TCCi is a local non-profit organization that focuses on attracting, nurturing, and promoting what they call brain-based businesses here in Savannah. They are a public/private partnership which is aligned with local government, the Savannah Economic Development Authority, and various businesses and groups.
SavannahNOW is the web presence of our local paper, the Savannah Morning News. They are doing a smart thing by creating a community web site as the home of their paper where folks can “post news items, create a unified community calendar, share photos, recipes, and opinions.”
Are you ready to hear about why I’m so particularly fired up about this conference?
Speaking Of Business…
They’ve asked me to facility one of their sessions.
I’ll be leading a discussion on Business Blogging where we’ll be introducing the basics of the subject. It will be a great opportunity for folks who don’t really understand this whole blogging thing and how it can help their business to learn a little more about it in a casual environment.
Gorgeous (my wonderful bride, for those of you who haven’t been properly introduced yet) has already signed up to attend the conference along with a bunch of other folk.
So, if you are going to be anywhere near the low country that weekend and would like an opportunity to meet some of our bloggers, be sure to sign up!
And I look forward to seeing you there.
Enjoy!

Chris,
That’s fantastic! I know you’ll be an asset to the conference.
Carolyn
Thanks Carolyn. If you happen to be near Savannah that weekend, the conference is free…
Chris, if I can manage to be in Savannah that weekend, I certainly will
This sounds great Chris. I’m going to try and make it down (it’s only about 5 hours from Charlotte). A good excuse to hit Lady and Sons (my aunt knows Paula, so she can usually get in)
I have something else going on those days, but I’m going to try and move some things around. I’ll keep you posted.
Carolyn, let me know if it looks like you can make it. Who knows, It could turn into the even of the season!
Tony! If you can make it down that weekend it would be wonderful. (Anyone who might have an express route into Lady & Son’s is definitely someone I’d love to hang with in this town!
)
Keep me posted if it looks like you’ll make it. We might even turn this into a mini OCN reunion!
I wish I could make it the conference, unfortunately no funds here… most of all no time
Committed to School Assignments
Thilak, Since you’d only have to travel half way around the world from India, I guess it makes sense for you to skip this one.
It’s a pity that I will be too far from Savannah (I’ll be home (CA) for Christmas and won’t leave until 2nd week of Feb.)
Chris, you will fill us in with some highlights of the event, right? If possible, a series of podcasts or something.
Cheers and break a leg!!!
Ooooh, a podcast… I’ve been thinking about doing one for a while now, Renée. What a great excuse to do one. We’ll see how it goes.
One of the speakers is going to be talking about podcasting basics. Maybe I’ll finally learn how to put one together!
YEA! Chris!
What an opportunity! Go for it! Let me know if I can help in any way.
Thanks Liz! You are always so helpful already.
