Is KnowMoreMedia Done?

Is KnowMoreMedia Finished?

This has been a sad week for the blogging world. KnowMoreMedia, a major blog network with over 100 blogs focused on the business world, effectively went out of business as of Thursday.

Well, they laid off all their employees anyway. I suppose technically that’s not exactly the same thing as going out of business.

But it might as well be for the folks who are no longer being paid.

Postmortem

I can’t imagine autopsies being fun.  Nor do I understand we’re so prone to slow way down when passing a highway accident to be sure we get a good look.

Yet we do slow down to get that good look. And I can’t help asking some questions as I look at the apparent downfall of one of the larger niche blogging networks out there.

And as an aside let me say that I completely admire what KnowMoreMedia did for blogging as a medium and for bloggers individually. I consider Easton Ellsworth, their now former Senior Editor and longtime author of BusinessBlogWire, a good friend.

I take no pleasure in their demise. But I do have lots of questions. Read more

Odds and Ends

July 18, 2007

Got a few odds and ends to share with y’all this morning.

Great New Series

Easton Ellsworth has started a new series over at Business Blog Wire on Small Business Blog Help. Easton has been following business blogging for a long time and I consider him the go-to guy when it comes to Fortune 500 blogging.

I’m looking forward to seeing how he applies what he knows from big business to small business folks. Go check it out for yourself.

Bloggers Noticed by Mainstream Media

BusinessWeek is standing up and taking notice of some top tier bloggers. If you’ve ever wondered How Top Bloggers Earn Money then you should spend a little time looking through that slide show. (The navigation for the slides is in the upper right below the banner ad. Not as obvious as it could be.)

My New Mac is Arriving

I say “arriving” instead of “arrived” because yesterday the keyboard, monitor and mouse were delivered. Unfortunately the guts of my Mini are taking the slow boat to Savannah. They didn’t make the Friday outbound cutoff, apparently, didn’t start rolling until Monday and won’t be here until Friday according to FedEx.

So now I’ve got a couple of boxes here in my office that I’ll have to wait until the weekend to unpack.

Good thing I’m scheduled to be off this weekend! I suspect I’ll be plenty busy!

Enjoy!

CREEating Value - 10 January 2007

CREEating Value Button
CREEating Value - About once a week I go through my feed reader and pull out a few gems that bring value to you as a business blogger. Here are this weeks juicy finds.

Enjoy!

BusinessBlogWire (feed) - Easton Ellsworth is one of the driving forces behind the Know More Media blog network and is the creator of Blogtipping. BusinessBlogWire focuses on Fortune 500 blogging and is a great source for business blog info.

InstaBLOKE (feed) - The Blog Bloke does a great job of passing along the “how to’s” of blogging without jumping onto the latest fad bandwagon. His humorous style is entertaining and informative. A great addition to a business blogger’s feed reader.

The Dilbert Blog (feed) - Scott Adams is best known as the creator of the Dilbert cartoons. His blog however is thoughtful and full of big, world impacting ideas. I often don’t agree with what Scott has to say. But I rarely leave one of his posts without doing some serious thinking about his ideas. It’s a great place to go when you want a challenge.

Contemplating a Bit of a Course Change

October 30, 2006

Y’all know that a big part of the whole exercise here at SuccessCREEations involves a certain amount of introspection. The idea has been to explore ideas tips and strategies so we can all become more successful.

As I noted yesterday, some of that introspection involves finding where our passions lie. I am exploring and doing some heavy thinking along that vein keeping my eyes out for whatever treasures I can find along the way.

Obviously one of my passions is blogging. I like sharing ideas and the community of people from all over the world that can connections all over the world that blogs do better than most other avenues.

Another of my passions is business. Business is what makes the world go round. I know you may have thought it was money that kept things moving. But it takes businesses to create the goods and services which generate the money to make the world go round.
