As long as we’re on a a Facebook roll this week, I thought I’d share this little video I found via Cherly Smith’s blog. Over and above the TOS issue, the video pretty much sums up the things I don’t like about Facebook.
Check it out. 25 Things I Hate About Facebook – What do you hate about Facebook?

i start to review my account in facebook. Some people say, the facebook is actually is where people can investigate our background, our family, our friend etc. It make me feel scared to upload my photo. Do not know how true it is.
Yeah it is scary.I read that when you sign with facebook you are aggreing that they can publish your photos even if you cancel your account.
Even after cancellation? What does that mean? They own the copyright?
Are you serious? Why in the world would they do that?
LOL loved number 3 – birthdays. Was my birthday a few days ago and I had quite a few posts on my wall. I was unsure on the facebook etiquette as to how to respond… should you private message? Should you write a thank you on their wall??
I opted for ignoring them all!
Great points. Personally I hate that everyone in my network are announced when i add something to a friends wall. For the same reason I usually send a private message, but that takes the hoel meaning out of a social network.
it is a real scary, I didn’t think that is a danger over my like this I’ve 100′s of “friends” that can really investigate my life.
I should rearrange my friends list.
I have never been a meme fan wherever I am. The 25 things meme has been going around and so many friends have tagged me in it to get me to do it. I never do it, so I guess they keep seeing I haven’t so keep tagging me. Gah!
What I can’t stand about this social network is the gargantuan amount of invites, causes, events, and third-party programs you get invited to. And all these require you to share your profile, thereby making your identity more vulnerable to spammers and unwelcomed marketing. People are beginning to exploit these SNS for their own marketing efforts, and we’re feeling the brunt of it.
LOL! Funny video. My pet peeve lately is people tagging me in some random video then all my friends go look to see if I’m in the video (which of course, I’m not). Very annoying. I now send a standard reply to anyone who tags me inappropriately. It’s a nice reply but it clearly says “please don’t do this again and here’s how to use tags appropriately.”
Allison, The good news is I believe you can “untag” yourself from things that others have tagged on Facebook if you like. Even so it is a pain to have to keep track of “tag spam”.
That was great! Facebook drives me crazy. But I can’t stop going there…
LOL! I’ve seen 25 Things I hate about Google, and Microsoft but not Facebook, thank you for sharing.
Nice and funny video, Chris. I agreed with some of the things that being told in this video…
Bit like the wife. A love/hate relationship
well I’m new to facebook and my complain is, it is very complicated I mean for a new user off course if I tried to understand it in time I would but its just not like other social networking site that is plain neat and very simple to understand this facebook is totally different but it looks like it has more features than our old social networking sites like myspace, I actually joined this because I got invited by my friends and I was just trying it out.
I loved, loved!!! very nice, in the first month I started using facebook, I was totally obsessed, I use to look wath was going on with everybody esles lives… totaly freak, now (that I broke up with my boyfriend, oops) I’m not that desperate
It’s a different thing every day. Today it’s getting bombarded with invitations to play Facebook bingo.
Great post! I’ve bookmarked your blog. Hope we can swap links.
Why can’t I open your rss feed? No post is showing.
Best Regards!
Ginj
Ginj, I’m not sure why you were having problems accessing the RSS URL. I just clicked on all the links I have on the site for feeds and they each point here.
I just started using facebook and really like it… although this makes me a bit leery. Thanks for the post!!
I love this video. Thank Chris, I can’t wait to share this blog post with my girlfriend. She has been asking me for the last month to log into facebook to read her 25 things list, and I think it is so funny. I try to only login to facebook a couple times a month because lately I haven’t been finding it fun anymore.
But seriously, all of the stuff in this video is so true.
I haven’t noticed any creepy ads, so im not sure what he is talking about for #21. But lately I have noticed all of my ads are how to make money with ad sense. That is what i don’t currently like about facebook. Anyone else noticing this lately?
Ha ha #3 hits close to home for me. I had like 25 comments on my birthday and didn’t respond to any of them because it was too much work. A week later about 10 of those people sent new comments about why I didn’t respond back! Annoying!
well for the number #3 hehe i have more than 700 friends and on the 3/3/09(yesterday) it was my bday…..and they were more than 150 messages on my wall…but the good think that i was online so i was teliing them thank by the chat option when they r online lol
so i was like i see the notification from whom and check the chat and tell him thanks ..that was funny hehe ..spent all my day but nice video and thanks for sharing !
W.D.
Facebook? I never realy could get into Facebook. I am not sure if it is because I am to lazy to bother or if the idea of posting my pictures for the public to see scares me… Either way never bothered with it.
After their change of TOS I doubt I ever will now.
I just started using Facebook this month. Spent waaaaaay too much time on it the first few days. Stayed away from it for a week because it can be addicting.
What I do not like are all the ‘bead’s and ‘candy’. Guess I’m too old to get it.
That is a BRILLIANT VIDEO. Perhaps of limited entertainment to those who don’t use Facebook,… but that group’s getting smaller and smaller by the day. Made me laugh so much I want to share a video, (for once!).
I have a twin, and we had a mini competition last year as to who would get the most happy birthday comments. Its just a credit to the genericness of facebook comments that we’d treat birhday wishes like commodities
hehehehehehehehhehehe this is really great!! I hate almost the same things about facebook but I think I hate more than 25… but what I really think is that actually I hate more thatn 25 “friends” in my facebook “friends” and I hate to see what are they doing every 5 minutes… please Stop it!!!
Priceless vid. I went back and forth with the poking thing for like 2 weeks with someone and when I finally gave up on it I looked back and thought the same thing this guy did. What was that even about? haha funny stuff.
Great video, very funny ! I can’t stand facebook
what i hate about facebook is his ability in exposing all your comments, tags, messages, favorites to everyone! you see there are things you also choose not to tell everyone and there are things that it’s okay. facebook doesn’t differenciate this one! *sigh.
Awesome video… criticising of a bad thing will count as advertisement as well. so, better not to mention of it…
Hey that is quite innovative. You love to hate facebook and i love you as we both love to hate facebook.
I am very annoying while some one pocking me and the feature of fee is also quite disturbing.
hate you hate you facebook
yeh i was quite scared when my boyfriend said me to upload a photo on faceboook as it is shown in all your networks. but i was enjoying a lot facebook
Oooooh, I hate Facebook relationship talk. I refuse to ever update my relationship status until I’m married, because if anything happens EVERYONE and their dog wants to know.
“It’s complicated.” *shudder*
A very good point.
Thank you very much. Thanks for the write
I’m waiting for more articles
The new facebook look is not at all good.. They say even the facebook employees hate it.
I loved number 3!
Good video …
Hysterical! I seriously don’t get the gifts, lollipops, and pillow fight requests — just plain weird.
Lol, funny video! I my self don’t really use Facebook as much as I use Twitter, however, I found it to be over used because its for socializing and the extra stuff just makes it more confusing to use.
Lol, very nice post, and although many people find many things they hate about facebook. They continue using it
. Strange!!!
Say what you will about Facebook–particularly about the redesign–but they have again and again picked up market share. Over the past three years they’ve made MySpace go from social networking powerhouse to completely irrelevant. Lately their target has been LinkedIn. Since Facebook started accepting users of all ages–not only those in high school–it has solidly and continually eaten into LinkedIn’s market share. Now a lot of professional/business networking is being done on Facebook. Believe me, there are things to dislike with the website, but it’s not going anywhere.
This was such a funny video. At first I didn’t think I would like it because I love Facebook, but everything he said was indeed true, and the icing on the cake was that he admitted in an annotation he likes Facebook, but these are just small things that get him. I agree; Facebook is great, but like anything, there are some negative aspects.
This video is funny.
Such a funny video indeed… But at first I never thought I would agree on “Loving to hate Facebook?”..coz I totally enjoy my Facebook account. But after seeing the video…I actually told myself..”yeah!..I also don’t like some of these things.”
But of course these are just some small negative aspects that Facebook has… I still enjoy my facebook and continue visiting it. lol
Hilarious video! I can’t resist chiming in here because facebook has been a past addiction but is now a slightly unnerving. I have well over 40 friends from high school — people I barely remember and haven’t seen in over 10 years.
My latest pet peeve — we all have those friends who incessantly update their status, but what about the ones who can’t stop using the word “is,” whether it applies grammatically or not. “Adam Spector is just watched Shaun of the Dead”
One last thing — facebook should offer users the option to include the instant messenger.
That is so funny, I relate totally especially the birthday one on facebook, so true.. Thanks for the share.
Facebook is nice to use but there a better platforms. I don’t think that I have to hate things like Facebook. Nobody should. If you don’t like ist, you should not use it.
The thing I hate about facebook is the people who use it the most are the people who suggest that they hate it all of the time!
I would like it if they put stats on there to prevent me from spending precious nose picking time checking people’s holiday snaps!
As much as so many people dislike facebook (I was one of them for a long time), it does seem to be the best social site. I refused to use myspace, and always will. There are other choices like hi5 and such, but most people use facebook.
I think it would be cool to start a social website/app that connects all different social sites in one? This way whatever different platforms your friends are using, it doesn’t matter.
Thanks to facebook, we’ve just launched our 5th website! We’re loving it. I am quite impressed with your level of customer service.
Great and hilarious video and good acting by that guy, really it socialize you too much and can loose your privacy very easily, . I am going to post this video on my FB account to see the reaction of my friends.
but if you can build a good target community I think facebook can be a good source of traffic too.
I remember when FB first changed the layout of the site. There was such a big backlash initially. I think people have gotten used to it by now.
I hate using FaceBook now with the new layout. It’s too confusing to use and I don’t know where anything is. After watching the video, I guess other people feel the same way.
Loved it. I saw it on funsup.com I think first, really funny, that guy is actually quite a good actor, I liked the part about the top 5 friends, that is so true.
I saw on the news that when you delete photos on facebook that they actually leave them up. So you think that your embarassing picture from that drunk night you can’t remember is gone, its not. You should try it, go to facebook, go to your pictures, click on one, copy the url, save it, delete the pic, wait a month and go back. I’ll be you anything its still there.
That was awesome, that guy’s definately going places.
What really annoys me about facebook is how they continue to send friend requests without my approval. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to control this?
Yes I have grown to love my concern over facebook time!
