They’re calling it Un-Conference ’07.
BlogSavannah has announced they will be hosting a conference for all things bloggish 25-27 January ’07 right here in Savannah. Here is an excerpt from their conference page:
At this 1.5 day event we will provide a very friendly, laid back atmosphere in which to learn about, talk about, and disect the blogosphere both in the Low Country and the world around us. With each session being led by a noted blogger and the sessions being relevant to the blogger cause, we are hoping to start an annual tradition of technology and friendship! The cost is FREE and all you have to do is register and show up!
How did they manage to get the cost down to free, you ask. Well they got together a couple of sponsors. The event will be sponsored by a couple of local entities who have a stake in the blogging world, The Creative Coast Initiative and SavannahNOW.
TCCi is a local non-profit organization that focuses on attracting, nurturing, and promoting what they call brain-based businesses here in Savannah. They are a public/private partnership which is aligned with local government, the Savannah Economic Development Authority, and various businesses and groups.
SavannahNOW is the web presence of our local paper, the Savannah Morning News. They are doing a smart thing by creating a community web site as the home of their paper where folks can “post news items, create a unified community calendar, share photos, recipes, and opinions.”
Are you ready to hear about why I’m so particularly fired up about this conference?
Speaking Of Business…
They’ve asked me to facility one of their sessions.
I’ll be leading a discussion on Business Blogging where we’ll be introducing the basics of the subject. It will be a great opportunity for folks who don’t really understand this whole blogging thing and how it can help their business to learn a little more about it in a casual environment.
Gorgeous (my wonderful bride, for those of you who haven’t been properly introduced yet) has already signed up to attend the conference along with a bunch of other folk.
So, if you are going to be anywhere near the low country that weekend and would like an opportunity to meet some of our bloggers, be sure to sign up!
And I look forward to seeing you there.
Enjoy!
